Desserts which include the Sri Lankan cuisine offer a large variety to choose from. An oil cake which is called Kevum is prepared by treacle, spiced flour and cashew-nut fudge. Kiribath is another favorable cuisine prepared by rice boiled in coconut milk. It is best to be eaten with sambol and usually served on ceremonial occasions such as wedding and other social activities. Malay-origin-dessert, which is an egg pudding, is widely served in the island nation. Other delicacies like honey and curd popularly known as kiri peni also provides a good taste. Curd is a yogurt from the milk of buffaloes and gives a delicious taste.
Fruits form an important part in the Sri Lankan cuisine. There are various fruit trees in Sri Lanka which provide surplus fruits. Some of the important fruits which are served in this island are mangoes, bananas, mangosteens, papayas, durians, jackfruits, rambutans, etc which are found everywhere in the local markets. Thus, the cuisines of Sri Lanka range from a number of veg and non-veg delicacies and several fruits.
